If you include videos and audio files in your web pages, you will need to provide synchronized text equivalents. In the case of an audio file, this may simply be a transcript of the audio in an accessible format such as HTML.

Video files may require more work in creating an equivalent alternative. While a written transcript is a start, the guideline requires that synchronized captioning be available. It is beyond the scope of a simple web page to teach how to create synchronized captions. There is a freeware tool called MAGpie available. Another reasonably priced and easy to use option is HiSoftware's HiCaption. WIth a written transciprt and the video file you can easily create. See the resources below for more information.

Please contact the ITS Support Center at 785-8774 for a referral for additional help with multimedia on your web page.
